Free Dungeondraft Assets: What's Available & Where to Find Them
There are free Dungeondraft assets out there, though the selection is smaller than the paid packs. Here's a quick rundown of what's out there & where to find it.
CartographyAssets
CartographyAssets is the main community repository for Dungeondraft assets, both free & paid. If you're looking beyond the packs below, it's the right place to browse. Search by tag, style, or category & filter by price.
Megasploot Discord
The official Megasploot Discord server has a dedicated channel for free asset sharing. It's less curated than CartographyAssets & requires a bit more digging, but it's active & occasionally surfaces packs you won't find anywhere else. It's worth checking if you're after something specific that the main repositories don't have.
DnDungeon's free demos
Both of DnDungeon's asset packs have free demos available with a selection of assets. They're fully functional & usable in your maps, not just previews!
Dungeondraft Overhaul Core Free Demo
The Overhaul demo includes a sampler of the full pack's Asia-inspired art style: terrain tiles, some objects & a selection of paths & lighting assets. It's enough to build real maps & get a clear sense of whether the style fits your game.
- Download on CartographyAssets (free account required)
- Direct download (no account required)
The full DnDungeon Dungeondraft Overhaul expands this to 4,000+ tagged assets covering every category: terrain, structures, objects, walls, paths, lighting & special effects!
Dungeondraft Blueprint Assets Free Demo
The Blueprint Assets demo is the complete black & white version of the pack, free forever & Creative Commons-licensed. It includes the full set of B&W symbolic tools for making printable dungeon maps, plus a pile of finished example maps in JPG, WEBP & UVTT formats with the Dungeondraft project files included, so you can see exactly how they're built.
- Download on itch.io (free, no account required)
The full Blueprint Assets pack adds the complete color asset set, unlocking commercial use & the full range of material options.
What the demos don't include
If you're building maps for a campaign & want coverage across every location type, the full packs are the practical choice, but the demos are a genuine free starting point, not just a teaser. Maps made with them are shareable & usable in your games!
Installing the assets
Once you've downloaded a demo, installation is the same as any Dungeondraft pack: drop the .dungeondraft_pack file into your Dungeondraft assets folder & it'll appear automatically in the editor. Installation instructions are included with the packs, or you can see How to install Dungeondraft asset packs for a step-by-step walkthrough.
