A gigantic barrier gate battlemap sitting between life & death! The party’s life & death, specifically, because this is a lethal final showdown! Doesn’t matter whether it’s in the midst of the lone & level sands of the Gobi or high above the land on a mountain or in the air.
Thoughts
- Hide fire elementals inside the burning braziers on top of the pillars!
- This could be the culmination of the Iron Gate Monk Monastery’s work!
- It might also sit at the end of the Mountain Pass Ruins!
- Maybe you’ll have to breach the Pyramid’s Gates to reach the Black Temple variant?
- The flying gate variant is, of course, a love-letter to Touhou and would pair excellently with my Hakugyokurou map on the other side.
Contents
- Black Temple: An ominous surrounding structure built of blackest basalt to protect a malign sealed gate. A thin walkway wraps around the whole structure, too!
- Mountain Gate: A gate built into the arid mountains! Built to blend nicely with the Iron Gate Monk Monastery & the Mountain Pass Ruins!
- Desert Gate: A gargantuan ancient gate rising from the sands. Look upon these works, ye mighty, & despair!
- Heavens: What, are you trying to breach Heaven itself? Sure, why not?
- Heaven with Extra Platforms: For those who can’t fly & are afraid of falling. You could use this as a phased map & remove the platforms with warning!
- Ocean Gate: Edge of the world, or just in the middle of the sea? Do the pillars plummet three miles down to the base of the ocean, or is it in the middle of a coral atoll?
- Void: Sitting in a starry knee-deep pool of lights a mile below the surface of the earth … or actually floating in the space between worlds. In either case, this is a portal to the blackest abyss. Nobody comes here without terrible purpose.
- Day/Night Variants: Wherever applicable!
