A forge battle map inspired by traditional Japanese foundries, set up for a confrontation at the heart of the local industry! Workers slave away on huge bellows that fill a clay foundation with oxygen, boiling ironsand into the raw metals for the kingdom’s industry — who would seek to disrupt this?

It was actually really hard to find clear references for the structure of these forges during my research. The real-world ones were built with clay & broken apart afterwards, but I found imagery suggesting slag channels & other components of different & more elaborate design. In the end, I settled for this hybrid design, since I felt it was most interesting & applicable.

Thoughts

  • The latest ironsand shipment turned out to be scarlet steel — adamantite. And someone leaked the word to every hostile faction nearby!
  • Alternatively, the stone spirits were very upset to be melted & staged an uprising as newly-minted magma spirits.
  • You’ve heard the old foundry still has the thought-lost deed to the town’s current foundries, but the local banker’s sent (hired) goons to recover them first so his family can lay claim to the industry!

Contents

  • Traditional Japanese Foundry: An iron-smelting plant in autumn for processing ironsand into purified iron!
  • Downtime: The foundry’s been shut down & operations paused. What’s meeting here while nobody’s looking?
  • Disrepair: This forge is decrepit by any standard — it’s been years since it operated! Maybe there’s something valuable left in the ruins? Or maybe there’s important clues as to how it was shut down, exactly…
  • Winter: Only the hottest of forges for the coldest of winters.
  • Spring: Cherry trees don't make the best fuel, but there's still a couple around. Give the landscape a touch of color.
  • Summer: Bright greens & verdant hues instead of the soft reds of the twilight season!
  • Canopy Overlays: Built for VTT canopy usage!
  • Day/Night Variants: Wherever applicable!
